Rodova Elena Iliynichna (1903–1988)
The artist belonged to the artists of the generation of the 1930s which worked in between two great styles periods: avant-garde of the 1920s and realism of the 1950s. She studied at VKHUTEMAS–VKHUTEIN under the tutelage of Robert Falk. Rodova was a member of the Union of Artists since its foundation (she was excluded from the Union on a denunciation in 1938 and resumed her membership only in 1958).
Together with her husband artist Mikhail Rankov undertook a number of creative trips to Bukhara and Samarkand (Middle Asia) (1930), to Armenia (1931), together with a group of artists worked on the decoration of Moscow Underground (1934).
Her works are exhibited at the State Tretyakov Gallery, the Museum of Moscow History, the Georgian State Art Museum (Tbilisi), the Kirghyz stan National Art Museum.
